ZIN OFFICIALLY WELCOMES NEW FEMALE SINGER!

Bebe set to make her official debut in Montreal, Canada.

BROOKLYN, NY–August 21st, 2009–ZIN officially announced today the addition of Bebe to the band. She will take on the role as female lead singer in the band alongside male lead singers, Polo & Alan Cave.

Burthonley “Bebe” Deslouches hails from Port au Prince, Haiti and moved to Florida at the age of 15. She started singing and writing music at the age of 11, and has worked on several personal music projects prior to joining ZIN. Although she constantly brushed her musical talents to the side in order to pursue a higher education in the medical field, the opportunity to join ZIN was one that she could not miss.

“It is such an honor for me to be able to sing with a legendary band such as ZIN,” states Bebe. “I know that it won’t be an easy task and that the expectations will be pretty high considering the female singers who came before me. I will do my best to satisfy the public and take all criticism in stride. I do not take this opportunity for granted and I plan to give it all that I got while staying true and original to myself.”

In need of a full-time female singer, ZIN began to audition different ladies during their live performances. After a couple of months, Bebe proved to be the right choice. The management team was certain that they found the missing link.

“We needed a stable female singer in front of the band,” explains ZIN maestro Alex Abellard. “Bebe was a perfect choice. She is a talented singer and songwriter who is extremely passionate about what she is doing. Her personality, style and voice fits the band very well. It is also quite the convenience to have her based in New York which makes it much easier for the band and those who want to hire the band.”

ZIN will officially begin touring with Bebe on Saturday, August 22nd where they will perform in Montreal, Canada. For more performances and a chance to catch Bebe LIVE on stage, you can refer to the tour dates below.

How quickly a year can pass.

The group Harmonik took the stage exactly a year ago on August 15, 2008 at Club 90 Degrees and since than it has been a whirlwind of excitement, trials, critiques, and experience. Throughout the year the one group of individuals and professionals we could always count on was the Media. Through your continuous support we have made it through our first year and this Thursday we would like to say Thank you!

I was just on the phone with Zin maestro Alex Abellard I flatly asked him if HMI female singer Sandra is still with the band or not. The maestro gave a straight answer to basekompa and provided more details of what really went on…KEEP READING BELOW!

Mr. Abellard told Bk that the band only has one female singer at the moment. I asked him the question about Sandra for a second time (has she been kicked out by you or not?) : the maestro carefully chose a term to describe Sandra’s status in Zin “Sandra and I have reached some mutual understanding agreement…Nou pa janm mete moun deyo nan Jazz,” he said.

I asked him if he feels Sandra was happy to reach that so-called mutual understanding agreement; he told me as far as he’s concerned Sandra was very happy after the agreement. He also continued to say that had her own personal project to work on so it was the perfect time to give her a chance to do so.

As far as the new female singer maestro Alex said she is not official yet. I asked him if Zin expects more from her than Sandra; he said everything is a process but her case she has talent and she can dance “Nap Gade pou’n we” he said.

During our conversation Berdy has with Alex ,he asked the maestro about a comment a few people have made on the board stated that Alan has to leave Zin in order for new singer Polo to shine.

The maestro said there is no such thing, Polo will be just fine in the band, it’s just a matter of time. The maestro continued to say that people always feel like that when a singer just joins any band in the HMI. He said some never believed if Alan Cave was going to be so successful with Zin.

Since one of our board members insisted that Larose would join New York based band Oxygen we called the legendary Kompa singer to see what he had to say…
The artist told Basekompa.com that the answer is a big YES, however the deal is not final. “The deal is at 80% now” Larose said. I asked him about his previous project with shouga combo; he said the guys were not really ready to do something serious that’s why he’s making sure he and the Oxygen musicians can be on the same page this time.

Since the artist lives in Florida I asked him he he’s considering relocation, he answered NO WAY, he doesn’t mind traveling every weekend and sometimes spending several weeks away.

Gracia said to us that Black Easy was not only a simple band mate for him but he’s black Easy’s best man “Mwen se parrain miche tou” he said. Gracia continued to say that after the Africa tour Black Easy felt he could not stay in the band anymore because of Bato. “Mwen pat jan’m gen ni fout ni med ak Black Easy” he said, and was so Happy to meet with Black Easy at the anniversary of a band that they created together.

Gracia said to Basekompa that he can tell if a band is doing fine in Haiti for the summer by looking at that band’s schedule. So he believes there are three top bands in Haiti for the 2009 summer: they are Nu-Look, T-Vice and Mass kompa because they are the ones that are currently playing the most in Haiti. “Berdy, gen yon ban neg ki desan an Haiti se fanmi yo wi yo te vin we…neg pa janm jwe pyes kote” Gracia Delva said.

Former PHANTOMS vocalist CLINTON BENOIT told me over the weekend when we asked him that PHANTOMS is going to have it tough after KINO’s departure only because

CLINTON tells me that he is COOL with both KINO and PHANTOMS, so he has no issues whatsoever with either camp.

What is CREOLE ROCK?

It will be a new project From Clinton Benoit..
Creole Rock is project featuring American musicians (Rock Players) mix with some Haitians singers. The CD will be ready at the end of February 2010, but before that a song/video will be released to give you the fans a little something to hold on to. We have some names for you who will be of who will be working on this project: King Kino, Manno Obas, Sharon Button, Gary Perez, Armstrong Jeune, Jean Max Valcourt, Joe Dore, Evens Jean, and more. It will be for the first time our own local Haitian Rock album.
